75 years, and still waiting

Funny times, we are living in. I can distinctly remember the hope and energy in the air 25 years ago, during the 50th year celebrations. Yes, political leaders lied even then, but somehow those lies seemed plausible. And the goals they set forth seemed achievable. Do-able. In our lifetime.

Not any more.

After 75 years, a nation still waits. While it slowly destroys itself.

A little warmer , please

Never thought I would say this, but this year's was a longer winter than usual. And also colder. Across Australia, average temperatures have been declining, due to the La Nina, and other unexpected weather phenomenon. It has been steadily raining, and cold these past few months. A marked difference from the days when this used to be a drought struck area. A freezing 2 degrees in the mornings, some days. 

Winter is a fun time to enjoy, sure, but with COVID still around, and many new virus-caused diseases going around, sneezing outside doesn't get the same 'bless you' that it used to.

So, it is a good sign to see this long winter slowly coming to its end. End of this month, and we should be officially in spring ! What a wonderful time of the year to be out !!

Jurassic World : Dominon. Or how to ruin a movie franchise.

 And so, it happens. I am going to type in here , something I never thought I woulds say in my life. 

They ruined my favourite movie franchise for me. I hate dinosaur movies now.

Hollywood ruined it. Today I watched the utter trash that they called Dominion in a theatre today. And for about 5 minutes, I was so bored, I actually fell asleep. While a rampage was going on on the screen.

Collin Trevorow, I hate you. I will never watch anything you are involved in.

It is amazing how rancid commercialisation can actually take creativity out of movies.

I hope they teach this in film school tomorrow. How absolute morons can ruin long standing classics.

It takes courage to move on

 This is just an advice. Or it could be a rant. Maybe both.

It takes courage to move on from bitter things.

Remembering does not help. In fact, it keeps you back.

The only true way to move forward, is to let go.

I know it sounds easy to say. It takes time to apply.

Here is hoping you find that courage.

How Did This Many Deaths Become Normal?

 

The United States reported more deaths from COVID-19 last Friday than deaths from Hurricane Katrina, more on any two recent weekdays than deaths during the 9/11 terrorist attacks, more last month than deaths from flu in a bad season, and more in two years than deaths from HIV during the four decades of the AIDS epidemic. At least 953,000 Americans have died from COVID, and the true toll is likely even higher because many deaths went uncounted. COVID is now the third leading cause of death in the U.S., after only heart disease and cancer, which are both catchall terms for many distinct diseases. The sheer scale of the tragedy strains the moral imagination. On May 24, 2020, as the United States passed 100,000 recorded deaths, The New York Times filled its front page with the names of the dead, describing their loss as “incalculable.” Now the nation hurtles toward a milestone of 1 million. What is 10 times incalculable?
